Our amazing team in Senegal works with determination and passion to put your generosity to work building thriving, resilient communities. We are thrilled to introduce you to Aïda Badji, our Administrative Coordinator. (Click here to see others in this series.)
Aïda joined our team in August of 2019 as our Administrative Coordinator and does an amazing job managing all the details that allow our field staff to deliver quality programs to partner communities.
Originally from the Casamance, the southwestern region of Senegal, Aïda is the second oldest of nine siblings. Her father served as a Brigade Commander in the National Gendarmerie (Police), and his postings took the family all over the country, giving Aïda the opportunity to discover many different regions of Senegal.
Her family eventually settled in Kaolack, where Aïda’s passion for community health first began. She started volunteering with the Kaolack Health District as a Peer Outreach Worker, raising health awareness among young people.
Aida took it upon herself to undergo additional training to become a Community Health Liaison. She is pictured here attending a training by the NGO African Consultants International (ACI) to promote reproductive health and fight HIV/AIDS.
After high school, Aïda earned a degree in Computer Science Office Automation and Business Management. She then completed several internships before being recruited as a Secretary at the Departmental Center for Popular and Sports Education (CDEPS) in Kaolack. It was during this time that she pursued additional training to become a Community Health Liaison.
When not managing computer centers and IT departments, Aïda continued to raise health awareness with the Network of Young and Women Leaders. Through talks, home visits, and social mobilization, Aïda educated members of her community on disease prevention.
Continuing to give back, Aïda leads community discussions on health, drug prevention, and the benefits of vaccinations.
In 2019 Aïda joined Andando as our Administrative Coordinator and does an amazing job managing all the details that allow our field staff to deliver quality programs to partner communities.
“I am very happy to work with Andando. I learned a lot about the establishment of women’s gardens, which help to empower women, allow women to take charge of themselves, and the construction of health clinics to fight against malnutrition and home births.”

In her free time, Aïda enjoys gardening, reading, sewing, and browsing the internet to learn new things. She passed on this love of learning to her daughter, Nanette, who earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island.
Proud mama, Aida’s daughter earned her Doctorate degree from the University of Rhode Island in 2025.
